In 2016 I got injured, married and went through a mental breakdown. Life was at an all time low, but I decided to stick around! I then found out I was finally pregnant and had more to keep me here than ever before. Life was changing. Fast. Fast forward to 2018, after returning from maternity leave with the Army Reserves, I found myself at a pivotal moment. I was still dealing with my emotional trauma that caused my break and I was otherwise jobless. But I needed to find work to help support my young family, whilst being flexible enough to support my Reserve commitments and my husbands service commitments too. However, I was unable to find flexible employment, locally that utilised my skills and experience. Whilst frustrating, I decided not to see this as a setback, but as the kick I needed to create change and to create a business built on the principles of flexibility and inclusivity. Dolphin Outsourcing was born. In 2020, despite all that I’d accomplished so far, my mental and physical health were still not great and I was finally medically discharged from the Army Reserve, whilst a huge knock, I was then able to realise that I could put all my energy into my business. However, then the world changed. The Covid pandemic hit the world hard. Having spent time in the military and gained decades of experience in civilian roles, I have gained valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by businesses and entrepreneurs. So over the last five years, even through the pandemic, I was able to use my ability to adjust in the moment to support not only my business to succeed, but that of our clients. My ever changing journey has also helped me to understand so many viewpoints, including people juggling personal and professional responsibilities. As a mentor, I use my experiences to guide others, helping them transform obstacles into opportunities. These experiences pushed me to rebuild my life and create something meaningful. The journey from facing personal difficulties to leading a thriving business, Dolphin Outsourcing, has taught me resilience and the vital role of mental wellness. This journey has shaped my commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive work environment where others, especially those dealing with similar challenges, can thrive.
